United Methodist Women
The organized unit of United Methodist Women shall be a community of women whose purpose is to know God and to experience freedom as whole persons through Jesus Christ, to develop a creative, supportive fellowship, and to expand concepts of mission through participation in the global ministries of the church. Each four years a theme is developed for United Methodist Women. The 2009-2012 theme is “In God’s Mission We Are Sent Out . . .!”
Again, Jesus said, Peace be with you. As the Father has sent me, I am sending you. And with that, he breathed on them and said, Receive the Holy Spirit.” John 20:21-22 NIV
In 2009 the theme is “Create in me a pure heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within in.” Psalm 51:10
The cross is the central structure of the kite emblem and is the center of creating a relationship with God through the redeeming love of Jesus. Term “create” means keeping a fresh perspective and looking with new eyes at programs, needs, and resources.
The United Methodist Women (UMW) at Hertford UMC is composed of six Circles, which meet each month. Various projects are coordinated by members of the Circles, with the largest yearly project being the annual Bazaar held in November. The UMW works in many areas of the Church and helps in all areas where help is needed.
The Executive Committee of the Circles is co-chaired by Kay White (426-7402) and Mary Inez Harrell (426-5446). All women are invited to be a part of a Circle. For more information on any Circle, contact Kay or Mary!
The United Methodist Women held a bake sale at Indian Summer Festival to raise money for the Youth Room project furniture. Special thanks to all who supported this project with donations of goodies and to those who visited our booth and purchased goodies at the Festival.
